ERM coding convention

Each European Reference Materials product is defined by a unique.

The ERM® code of a given material depends on the group and subgroup it belongs to.

The coding syntax is the following:

X Y ZZZ aa

X : letter of the main group of the material

Y : letter of the subgroup of the material

ZZZ : number identifying the material

aa : optional additional letters (one or two letters) specifying batches of the material

Example: The European Reference Material 032(n-nonane) which belongs to the main group "Materials certified for physical properties" (group F) and the subgroup "Thermal properties " (subgroup C) has the FC032 ERM® code.
